‘Lost in Translation’- Discussion to practice 2nd conditionals

Ask your students the following questions to practice 2nd conditionals:

If you went to a country with a completely different culture, would you eat everything that was served to you? Who would eat snake?

Imagine that you got lost in a city where nobody spoke English, how would you ask for directions?

If you didn’t know anybody, would you make friends with the local people, or would you seek out people from your own country?

What would you do if you were suddenly out of money?

How long would it take you to learn a new language if you didn’t speak a single word of it?

If you didn’t take any lessons, what techniques do you think you would use to learn the language in this completely different country?
